Keeping Children Safe

Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do at Brightmove. We are committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment where children feel protected, listened to and confident that any worries or concerns will be taken seriously.

Every child has an individualised risk assessment and safeguarding plan which reflects their needs, vulnerabilities and known risks. These are regularly reviewed and updated as the child’s circumstances and needs change.

Missing From Care

We follow local missing-from-care procedures and work closely with placing authorities and relevant professionals when a child is missing or at risk of going missing. Individual risk assessments and safety plans identify known risks, triggers and protective measures to support a coordinated response and the child’s safe return.

Exploitation & Safeguarding Risks

Our staff understand the risks associated with criminal exploitation (CE) and child sexual exploitation (CSE) and are supported to recognise indicators that a child may be at increased risk. Safeguarding concerns are responded to promptly and shared with the appropriate professionals and agencies.

A Skilled and Safeguarding-Focused Team

Staff receive safeguarding training alongside training relevant to the needs and risks of the children they support. This includes areas such as safeguarding children, missing from care, exploitation, ligature awareness, behaviour support and safer working practices.

Working Together

Safeguarding is a shared responsibility. We work collaboratively with social workers, placing authorities, education and health professionals, police and other safeguarding partners as appropriate to each child.

Children are encouraged to speak openly about their experiences and concerns. We ensure their wishes, feelings and voice remain central to decisions about their care and safety.

Independent Oversight

Once registered, the home will receive monthly independent visits in accordance with Regulation 44, providing additional external scrutiny of the quality of care and safeguarding arrangements within the home.
